EASY STEPS TO HEALTHY NAILS
The latest trend in beautiful nails has resulted in the mushrooming of nail bars in the Klang Valley that cater to customers who are interested in having a manicure or pedicure. A manicure is a treatment for beautifying the fingernails and hands, while a pedicure is for the feet.
Whilst it is important to beautify the nails externally, it is also important to ensure that the health and strength of fingernails and toenails are maintained. Nails protect the sensitive tips of fingers and toes.
Human nails provide support for the tips of the fingers and toes, protecting them from injury and aid in picking up small objects. Without them, we will have a hard time scratching an itch or untying a knot.
Nails can be an indicator of a person's health and illness, which often affects their growth. Nails are composed of keratin, a type of protein and mineral complex. Nails are meant to be strong yet flexible, smooth and glossy.
The health of nails relies on sufficient supplies of protein, B vitamin, vitamin A, calcium, zinc, iodine and iron. Below is a list of nails problem and the probable solutions:-
1) Darkened or pale nails caused by lack of iron.
Solution: A complete multivitamin with iron and zinc
2) Dry nails that split or break easily caused by lack of Calcium and Silica
Solution: The herb, Horsetail, is a good source of bio-available silica, which our body can use and a good calcium supplement will help nails regain its strength.
3) Opaque white bands on nails or thin nails caused by lack of protein and B vitamins.
Solution:- Royal jelly is a rich source of nutrients providing over 18 types of amino acids (proteins), B vitamins, as well as vitamins A, C, D and E.
Other important tips for strong healthy nails:-
1) Drink plenty of water and other liquids - dehydration can cause cuts and cracks in nails.
2) Treat your nails with care and do not use them as a tool to pick, pry or scrape.
3) Keeping your nails shorter can help reduce breakage and damage.
4) Avoid immersing you hands in bleaching agents or harsh chemicals.
